This is why I started the City that Fades Away series. Architecture is one of the distinguishing aspects of Buenos Aires. I’m perplexed whenever characteristic structures are demolished for replacement by new, bland apartment buildings with such little sense of style.

I know what you mean. I saw beautiful hutongs (traditional chinese housing streets)in China demolished to make room for senseless western looking buildings or more useless five star hotels. I hate that!!!

Same happens in every neighbourhood. There´s no policy of protection. Palemo is becoming plenty of horrible towers. I´ve moved to Chacarita because of that.
Shamely short term business rules when no legislation clearly states what is cultural heritage, patrimony, whatever.
