Hi…mmm…initially I wasn’t sure about “molde” pizza but a recent trip to El Palacio de la Pizza (Av. Corrientes 751) changed my mind. Certain people regard it as scruffy but for me just adds to the charm and ambience…the pizza was excellent, to the extent even the Quilmes was relatively drinkable (I’m not a fan of this very bland beer). Trying to remember the name of the sausage that they use – don’t think it is “longaniza”…something else?

hola, nunca fueron a “el cuartito”? talcahuano entre paraguay y M t de alvear, las mpizzas de ahi son excelentes, es un lugar tradicional entre las pizzerias de buenos aires

Now Jeff, lt isn’t about me being a chef or not being an average guy, it’s just about personal tastes. For me, there are simply pizzas here that I think are a whole lot better than El Imperio. For a deep dish style like that, I’d much rather go to Las Cuartetas on Corrientes. As I said in my review, I found El Imperio’s pizza to be impressive in size/height/quantity, and lots of toppings, but amazingly bland – especially given how talked up it’s been by some folks.

Best pizza in Buenos Aires? That’s a mighty strong statement. I think my nomination is 1893 (on Canning, a few blocks down from Corrientes). It’s very good. El Imperio looks like it’s making a very different style of pizza, though. 1893’s is very thin crust, a la parrilla. In any case, I pass El Imperio like five times a week. I get it’s time I stopped in.
